DisneyNature’s Monkey Kingdom in theaters now #MonkeyKingdom #InsideOutEvent
Today is the Day that DisneyNature’s Monkey Kingdom is released into theaters and I have a confession. Up until the #InsideOutEvent I had never intentionally watched a nature film before. Sure I have flipped through the channels, something nature like has caught my attention, and I have watched it, but never have I intentionally gone to the movies to watch a Nature film….until earlier this month.
I wasn’t sure what to expect but the trailer below made the movie look fun and exciting.
And being honest, the movie was different from my normal expectations of a film, but it was good. It was entertaining, I found myself laughing and I actually found myself thinking “Darnnit I have family members that act like that”.
Narrated by Tina Fey, Monkey Kingdom is about the life of Maya, the blonde-bobbed macaque monkey who has the entire dynamic of her life changed. Here’s a synopsis of the movie:
Life is an adventure for Maya, the clever and resourceful blonde-bobbed monkey in “Monkey Kingdom,” Disneynature’s new feature film set among ancient ruins in the storied jungles of South Asia. Maya’s world is forever changed when she welcomes her son, Kip, into her complicated extended family. Like all families, Maya’s has more than its share of colorful personalities—and she’s determined to give her son a leg up in the world. When their longtime home at Castle Rock is taken over by powerful neighboring monkeys, Maya’s whole family retreats, and she uses her street smarts and ingenuity to uncover untapped resources amidst strange new creatures and unsettling surroundings. Ultimately, they will all have to work together to reclaim Castle Rock, where Maya can hopefully realize her dreams for her son’s future.
In this movie, Maya definitely showcases the true meaning of a mother’s love and as a single parent I could really relate to the struggle of making something out of nothing for your child. It was amazing to watch her story unfold and watch how determined she w as to provide a better life than what was expected for her child. It’s really a heart tugging story that even your littlest one would enjoy.
Monkey Kingdom is filled with interesting facts, funny events and moments that will make your heart melt. And since Earth Day is coming up….seeing this movie is a MUST do on your list.
