Balance Bar Dark Review & #Giveaway

I know many of you have read in my posts that I feel its time for me to do something about my “Plush Sized” Exterior so I have been researching and finding ways to help me lose weight and eat healthier.  Well I had the opportunity to try the new Balance Bar Dark , they are the first nutrition bar line on the market to bear the well-respected Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal.  This opportunity seemed to arrive right on time, because one of the things my nutritionist has advised is that I need to increase my protein intake so that I may maximize my weight loss.  Well for a Diva who really does not care for a lot of peanut butter and can’t stand cottage cheese (FYI: holding your nose while eating it DOES NOT WORK our parents lied…lol), which are the suggested snacks from my nutritionist, I have been struggling.  I can eat fruits and veggies all day long, but finding protein other than from my meat, well that’s hard for this diva.

My other issue is that I don’t necessarily “prep” my meals all the time, so I needed an on the go snack that not only packed protein with a punch, had a decent taste, but was also something that I could grab and go.  Balance Bar Dark fits that need for me, its packed with 13 grams of protein and I can take it anywhere I go, just throw it in my purse or bag and keep it moving.  Now I have to be honest I am not a huge fan of Dark Chocolate, but I was willing to try it for the purposes of getting my protein in.  Surprisingly the bars are pretty good, especially considering they are “good” for you and we all know even adults don’t like what’s good for them (smile).

Here are the selling points for me on this bar:

• No after taste and the Dark Chocolate is not overwhelming in taste.  You literally feel like you are eating a healthy “candy bar”.
• I am able to get extra protein in on the go without putting too much thought into how I am going to get it.
• There are 3 flavors so I can switch it up to satisfy my tastebuds.
• They are filling, I didn’t have to eat 2 to ease my hunger pains.
• Balance Bar offers COUPONS!!!  Yes you know how I feel about Coupons and if I am going to continue to buy a product, I need to be able to be frugal about it.  I already printed my coupon for $1/3 Balance Bars so please feel free to do the same (smile)

The only thing I didn’t like about Balance Bar Dark is there aren’t enough flavors, as you can add so much to chocolate to make it tasty.  I would love to see a Raspberry combination and a caramel combination (hint, hint to Balance Bar Dark).  However, my favorite of the flavors was the Dark Chocolate Crunch it reminded me of eating a completely chocolate Oreo cookie.
