Meeting Jason Winston George:Pinch Me Because I think I’m Still Dreaming #Mistresses #ABCTVEvent

There are days that you remember and then there are days that you could NEVER Forget EVEN if you got hit by a Mac Truck and had amnesia..lol and the May 7th, 2014, is indeed one of those days for me.  May 7th, which I have officially nick named #JasonGeorgeDay was the day that I met my longtime celebrity crush Jason Winston George.  So let me give you a little background information so that you can know exactly how all of this transpired.  I received this amazing email telling me that I had been invited to LA to attend the Green Carpet Premiere of Million Dollar Arm, and while in LA I would also be Celebrating May the 4th Be with you with Vanessa Marshall, Attending a Live Filming of Jimmy Kimmel Live AND I would get to tour the set of ABC’s Mistresses.  I gladly accepted the invite and started doing my research on the activities and that’s when I learned that HE yes HIM as in Jason Winston George was in the cast of Mistresses.

I am probably going to tell my age here, but I truly don’t care (that’s a first right? lol) but I have been a fan of Jason’s since he played J.T. on the UPN Series Eve and I have watched him blossom from playing in movies like Barbershop, Three Can Play that Game and Clockstoppers to being a regular on Grey’s Anatomy and now one of the lead characters on Mistresses, both which air on ABC.  For Jason it’s a huge accomplishment, for me it means that I get to see him more often running across my TV Screen (Thank Heavens for small favors and DVR’s so I can watch the episodes repeatedly now) – and seeing that I don’t watch TV very often, it’s a plus to say that because of him, my TV viewing has indeed picked up.

Boom! Research completed! We are advised that members of the Mistresses cast will be joining us on our set tour and well immediately I put my bid in, I wanted to meet Jason – so I did what Spoiled Divas do best.  I took my request to Twitter.

Mistresses Season 2 returns TONIGHT at 10pm/9pm CST on ABC.  Will you be watching?  I can’t express how excited I am about this evening.  I have been on a countdown for WEEKS for tonight’s episode of Mistresses, and although I have already seen it…it’s just that good that I can’t wait to see it again.  I am not a huge TV person but when I find a show that I like, I make sure I watch it.  Well Mistresses is one of those shows that have not only gotten my attention, but it’s REALLY gotten my attention.  Like to the point that I will be sitting in front of my TV faithfully every Monday Night this summer watching it.  Yep it’s just that good.

You guys know I am all about being honest so let me be honest here, I heard about the show the later part of last year and well the title itself “Mistresses” made me say “eh, nah not my type of show.” I am just not the one to watch a show and root for #TeamSideChick (aka the other woman), however just as much as I am honest I can admit when I am wrong.  I truly judged yet another book by it’s cover and only to be proven wrong.  Mistresses is NOT about #TeamSideChick winning (smile), it’s actually an amazing storyline about 4 friends who have found themselves in compromising positions where they have either been a Mistress, were a potential Mistress or have had their lives impacted by a Mistress.  They learn from their mistakes, console one another, they argue/fight, and do what REAL women do.  No this isn’t a reality show, but every character has a characteristic that you can relate to.  Whether you can relate to them yourself or apply their traits to one of your friends, their personality traits are realistic.  Let’s break it down – Savi (played by Alyssa Milano) the workaholic goody two shoes, Karen (played by Yunjin Kim)  the book smart counselor who doesn’t make the best life decisions, April (played by Rochelle Aytes) the super nice one who just needs a little backbone and Joss (Jes Macallan) the party girl who you never think will ever settle down.  Now I can personally say I at one point in time, may have been all of these characters at once, but on grounds that may incriminate me I refuse to admit I could party like Joss.  Mistresses turned out NOT to be what I expected, and has indeed become one of my favorite shows.

Before heading to Sunny LA for the #ABCTVEvent, I did a Mistresses Marathon where in ONE sitting I was able to sit and watch 12 of the 13 episodes.  I was literally glued to my big comfy chair staring at the screen in amazement of the action that was taking place on the screen.  Now I have mentioned the ladies of the cast and told you about their characters, but I will be honest while I love the storyline, while the ladies make you want to join hands and sing Kumbaya when fun and exciting things happen for them….It’s really the Men of Mistresses who captivated my attention.  What?!? I am being honest yet again, please don’t judge me (smile).  The male cast of Mistresses is not only talented, but GORGEOUS, let me repeat GORGEOUS.  ABC did a super fine job with the casting for this HOT Summer show.

Fun Times with Aasif Mandvi as we talk about Million Dollar Arm #MillionDollarArmEvent

Out of all the actors and people we were able to meet during the #MillionDollarArmEvent, I have to say hats off to Aasif Mandvi – who plays the character Ash in Million Dollar Arm – for being the most hilarious person to meet during this entire experience.  I could not stop laughing at his jokes, which makes him not only funny in my eyes but also memorable.  So who is this character that Aasif plays, you may be wondering.  Here’s how I see it – there is no Batman without Robin.  There is no Tom without Jerry…and in this case there is no JB Bernstein without Ash.  Ash was JB Bernstein’s right hand man in real life and in the Movie Million Dollar Arm.  It was because of Ash that JB was able to travel to India and be secure in the fact that everything on the home front was going to be handled, while he focused on his mission.  Throughout the movie you will see JB touching bases with Ash to see how things are going and just to give him updates on his progress.  Ash was a key component in making the Million Dollar Arm Contest a success.

We sat down with Aasif to probe his mind about playing such an influential character in the movie Million Dollar Arm and boy did he give us an earful about his experience.

Suraj Sharma and Madhur Mittal talk Million Dollar Arm #MillionDollarArmEvent

I am still living in the moment and wishing I was still back in Sunny LA as it is a chilly and wet 62 degrees here in Chiberia (aka Chicago) today.  I am hoping that everyone took my advice and went to check out Million Dollar Arm, if you didn’t go….then I strongly encourage you to check it out this week as its a phenomenal movie – and as apart of my experience not only did I get a chance to attend the Green Carpet Premiere, Chat it up with Jon Hamm, Spend time with the Real Mr JB Sir, Rinku & Dinesh…..I also had a chance to meet the actors Suraj Sharma & Madhur Mittal who play the characters Rinku and Dinesh in the movie Million Dollar Arm.

Now you may know both of these amazing actors as Suraj Sharma is most known for his performance in Life of Pi & Madhur Mittal is best known for his performance in Slum Dog Millionaires.  Both are phenomenal up and coming actors and both are quite hilarious in person. They were very personable, chatty and warm-hearted during our chat.  They like JB recognized us on the Green Carpet and were elated that their Mommy (+1 Daddy) Bloggers were in attendance to share in the moment.  So what did this young, attractive, outgoing, well spoken and promising actors have to say about their involvement in Million Dollar Arm….well they had a lot to say!

Million Dollar Arm in Theaters Today – Go Check it Out #MillionDollarArmEvent

What is Million Dollar Arm about?
I have been posting and tweeting like crazy about Million Dollar Arm – my friends, family and followers have all been asking me the same question. What is this Million Dollar Arm about? I keep hearing that they are not familiar with it. It’s UNKNOWN to them. Well that’s what makes this blog post even more fun to write. I mean how many of us are curious about the UNKNOWN? How many of us have explored the unknown only to find out we should’ve discovered it much sooner than what we did? That is totally the premise behind Million Dollar Arm. It’s a story of how doing something unheard of and branching out to exploring the unknown can turn out to be one of the best experiences of your life.

Based on a true story, sports agent JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm) finds that business has changed and things aren’t going well for his career. In a last ditch effort to save his livelihood he concocts a scheme to find baseball’s next great pitching ace. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turn into a major league baseball star, JB travels to India to produce a reality show competition called “The Million Dollar Arm.” With the help of cantankerous but eagle-eyed retired baseball scout Ray Poitevint (Alan Arkin), he discovers Dinesh (played by Madhur Mittal from “Slumdog Millionaire”) and Rinku (played by Suraj Sharma from “Life of Pi”), two 18-year-old boys who have no idea about playing baseball, yet have a knack for throwing a fastball. Hoping to sign them to major league contracts and make a quick buck, JB brings the boys home to America to train. While the Americans are definitely out of their element in India, the boys, who have never left their rural villages, are equally challenged when they come to the States. As the boys learn the finer points of baseball, JB, with the help of his charming friend Brenda (Lake Bell), learns valuable life lessons about teamwork, commitment and what it means to be a family.

mda2

Fun Fact: The storyline and the fact that this movie was based upon real life events were unknown to the actors that played the characters in the movie. When they found out the movie was inspired by a true story, they were shocked and amazed at the lack of awareness of this inspiring story. Being able to convey the story and get the word out about “changing the game in order to win” became their mission. Million Dollar Arm is truly one of Baseball’s best kept secrets.

Dreams Do Come True: The Story Behind Million Dollar Arm #MillionDollarArmEvent

We all have dreams, we aspire to be better people, be better providers, have the dream career, car and/or home, and we dream of just being happy.  But what if you lived a dream that originally wasn’t your own?  What if just by chance it was discovered that you had abilities that you didn’t realize you possess?  What if you were taken from what you new to be an everyday norm and placed into a situation that was beyond your dreams and beyond your wildest imagination?  This scenario would force you to adapt the way you live, think, your day to day activities and ultimately change your entire life.  Now what if I told you this has happened and is the premise behind Disney’s latest film Million Dollar Arm which opens in theaters everywhere on May 16th.   Would it peak your interest?  Would you want to know more?  Would it inspire to you to pursue your dreams?  Million Dollar Arm is just that type of story, its based on real life events and it’s so touching.

Now you know how much I enjoyed the Green Carpet Experience during the #MillionDollarArmEvent and you even know how much I enjoyed chatting it up with Jon Hamm, who plays sports agent JB Bernstein in Disney’s Million Dollar Arm.  What you don’t know is what happened when we had a chance to meet the real people behind Million Dollar Arm.  Let me introduce you to my newest motivation – Rinku Singh, Dinesh Patel and JB Bernstein also known as Mr JB Sir.  I am honored to say that I had the opportunity to sit down with these awesome individuals and learn directly from them what this movie means to them and hear first hand “their story” of their very own #MillionDollarArmEvent.

JKL_cityscapelogo Jimmy Kimmel Live Set Tour with Guests Sally Field & Julia Roberts #ABCTVEvent

As soon as I got to LA the first place that I headed (after the hotel) was to Hollywood Blvd to do a little sight seeing and grab something to eat as I was famished after my flight.  One of the first pictures I took was of the building that houses Jimmy Kimmel Live.  I knew we would be visiting the set during the visit and well I wanted to get a jump start on my picture taking.

20140506_203327 So when day two of our trip arrived, which just so happened to be Cinco De Mayo I was all ready to check out Kimmel Live.  I have never been to a live taping of a Late Night Show or any TV show for that matter so this was a brand new experience for me – and a fun one I might add.  We were situated in the “green” room, which actually is not green by the way (smile) but it’s a private area where we were able to see everything the audience was experiencing, plus it was filled with yummy Cinco De Mayo themed food and delicious Ice Cream (a win win in my book).  While waiting for the show to air we took some time to take a few pictures and enjoy our surroundings – all while watching some funny snippets from past shows.

Are you ready for the Nashville Season Finale? #NashvilleFinale #ABCTVEvent

I am not really a huge TV Fan you guys know that, but I learned last week that I am truly missing out on some awesome TV Shows so I just may have to change that.  I mean after all  do have a DVR and well a Diva does need a little down time right?  Yep my justification for my newest addictions and I am sticking with it.  So what show’s am I talking about?  Well you guys already know I have fallen head over heels in Love with Mistresses, mainly because of Jason George and his character Dom, but I actually found another show that peeked my interest, it’s called Nashville.  Now I am brutally honest, so let me say under normal circumstances I definitely would not choose to watch this show based upon the title alone.  I’m not a Country Music Fan, so I wouldn’t think that it would be a show that would be for me.  Well, you know the old saying “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”…yeah well this is a perfect example why you shouldn’t as Nashville definitely isn’t your “Country Music” kind of show.

Let me start off by introducing you to the cast of the show:

NASHVILLE – ABC’s “Nashville” stars Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Clare Bowen as Scarlett O’Connor, Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, Maisy Stella as Daphne Conrad, Eric Close as Teddy Conrad, Lennon Stella as Maddie Conrad, Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, Charles Esten as Deacon Claybourne and Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes. (ABC/Bob D’Amico)

NASHVILLE – ABC’s “Nashville” stars Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Clare Bowen as Scarlett O’Connor, Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, Maisy Stella as Daphne Conrad, Eric Close as Teddy Conrad, Lennon Stella as Maddie Conrad, Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, Charles Esten as Deacon Claybourne and Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes. (ABC/Bob D’Amico)

The moment I realized that Hayden Panettiere was in Nashville, I realized I was missing out. Hayden (who plays Juliette) is one of my favorite actresses for quite some time, so I was amazed that I didn’t realize she was in a new TV show, which happened to be in it’s second season…hmmm blame that on my blog lol.  So needless to say, now that I knew that she was on the show my interests were a little more peaked.

As part of our #ABCTVEvent tour we were able to watch the last 2 episodes of Nashville, including the Season Finale which airs 5/14 at 10 pm EST.  Now for me not to know what has been happening during the current or the last season it was pretty easy for me to catch on, in fact the end of the Season Finale made me come home and check my HuluPlus account to see if I could catch Season 1….Yeah baby, it’s on there so guess who will be all prepared for Season 3 when it airs.  Oh yes if you haven’t heard Nashville has been renewed for yet another season, which means I will be ready.  In the meantime, you can bet that I will be watching the season finale again on 5/14 and live tweeting as it was just that good.  Check out this sneak peek and see for yourself.

Here’s what you need to know about the Nashville Season Finale:

“On The Other Hand” — As Will Lexington’s album climbs the chart with the help of Jeff Fordham’s deep pockets, Rayna enlists Teddy’s help to plan a huge, free concert at LP Field to draw attention to her Highway 65 debut. She will perform with Luke Wheeler and duet with Juliette before thousands of fans. Zoey, Avery and Gunnar rock out at a benefit for Deacon’s favorite charity, Sober House, and Avery plans to serenade Juliette with a song he wrote for her. But when he attempts to sing it, he doesn’t understand why she is not present. And Scarlett makes a decision about her future in Music City, on “Nashville,” WEDNESDAY, MAY 14 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network.

After watching the Season Finale we had a chance to chat with some phenomenal women about Nashville and their influence on the show.  Introducing, Creator & Exec. Producer Dee Johnson (left) & Exec. Producer Callie Khouri (right).

20140505_175219

ABOUT CALLIE KHOURI – Creator and Executive Producer, “Nashville”
Callie Khouri galvanized women and sparked nationwide debate in 1991 with the hit movie “Thelma and Louise,” her screenwriting debut, which was nominated for six Academy Awards. She received the Oscar, the Golden Globe, the Writers Guild of America Award and a PEN Literary Award for Best Original Screenplay. “Thelma and Louise” took home the London Film Critics Circle Award for Film of the Year, and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Her second picture, released in August 1995, was “Something to Talk About,” starring Julia Roberts, Dennis Quaid and Robert Duvall. Her directorial debut was “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood,” starring Sandra Bullock and Ashley Judd, which she also adapted for the screen. In 2006 Khouri collaborated with legendary television producer Steven Bochco and wrote and directed the television drama “Hollis and Rae.” She has directed her second feature film, entitled “Mad Money,” starring Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah.

ABOUT DEE JOHNSON – Executive Producer, “Nashville”
Most recently Dee Johnson was executive producer and showrunner of the series “Boss.” She began her writing career on “I’ll Fly Away” and continued to rise in the ranks, writing for such acclaimed series as “Melrose Place,” “Homicide: Life on the Streets,” “The Profiler,” “Any Day Now” and “Southland.”

In addition to pursuing her own development slate, Johnson has also served as executive producer on “Commander in Chief,” the Emmy Award-winning series “ER” and “The Good Wife.”

We were able to ask both Callie & Dee a few questions. We observed that last season there were a lot of stories going on, while this season seems to be focusing on individual couples.  Is that what we can expect for Season 3?

We worked hard in Season 2 to integrate the ensemble more so that the roles crossed over a bit.  So we were more focused on our central cast.  I don’t think we want to see stories going all over the place.  Don’t want to say that it is couples, per se, but our core group or original cast interacting.

One of the things that we all noticed was that it seems everyone on the show can SANG…yeah I meant SANG! They sing so good that they changed the word from Sing to Sang.  What was exciting to learn is that every cast member does their own singing.

Then this happened!!!!

20140505_180522

Do you know who that is?  Well introducing Eric R Close, Eric plays the character Mayor Teddy Conrad, Rayna Jaymes’ ex-husband (Rayna is played by Connie Britton).  Now again I am a newbie on this show but from what I could tell from my other #ABCTVEvent bloggers, Teddy has had the most growth of all the characters in Nashville.

So what’s in store for the Season Finale….Well you have to tune in on May 14th to find out!

Chatting with Jon Hamm about Million Dollar Arm #MillionDollarArmEvent

I had the privilege of sitting in a room with 24 phenomenal bloggers and the ever so amazing Jon Hamm chatting about Disney’s upcoming film Million Dollar Arm, in which he plays the lead character JB Bernstein.  I truly can’t call this an interview as he made us feel so comfortable in his presence it really didn’t feel like we were drilling him with questions, it seemed more like a formal conversation so to speak.  But before I get to our chat and the information that Jon shared with us, I need to set the record straight as I received a lot of Facebook Inbox questions asking about Jon.  So let me answer those questions first:

  1. Yes he was as well spoken and entertaining in person as he is on TV
  2. No, he won’t marry any of my Facebook Fans or Friends
  3. Yes Yes Yes he is as attractive in person as he is on TV (FYI: I got inboxed that question from at least 10 people – so it was a must to answer lol)
  4. Yes he truly did enjoy filming Million Dollar Arm
  5. No sorry I couldn’t bottle him up and bring him back to Chicago

Whew!  Now that, those questions are out of the way, let me tell you all about our chat with Jon Hamm.  Now for those of you who are not familiar with Jon Hamm his accolades speak for themselves, he is a Golden Globe Award Winner and an Emmy Nominated Actor for his performances in Mad Men and 30 Rock.  His role in Mad Men is the role he is most recognized for, but he has graced the screen in films such as Sucker Punch, Bridesmaids, The A-Team, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and Disney’s Latest Film Million Dollar Arm which hits your local theater on May 16th – and I have to say it’s totally a must see.
