Feel the Spirit Sundays (2/2/14)

I woke up this morning in an awesome mood and I thought to myself I haven’t done a Feel the Spirit Sunday in awhile, and well there was one song that was in my heart and mind. Jesus will work it out!!! This song is an old school song, I mean a really oldie but goodie. I used to jam to this song when I was a child at my old church. It was one of my mother’s favorite songs and the church would be on fire when Sister Denise (the lead vocalist at our church) would sing this song. This is really a powerful song and it speaks such truth.

I am a true testament of what can happen when you turn it over to the Lord and let him work it out. A little over a year ago I became a single parent and trust me it hasn’t been an easy road. I literally was faced with disconnect notices for all utilities, I was depressed by my situation, and I knew I was only staying in it because I was scared to step out on faith….yet despite all my fears I stepped out on faith and the blessings have flowed. I am not ashamed to tell anyone about my faith or the fact that I love the Lord. So this morning while I am looking at where I have been I am appreciate the journey that I am on and know this much that Jesus will work it out, just turn it over to the Lord and he WILL work it out!!! AMEN!!!!

Welcome to Feel the Spirit Sundays

Sundays are special days in my household, its considered a Family Day! I pack up the kids to head off to church, we have our weekly family dinners and we take the time to bond on Sundays. However EVERY Sunday in my house starts off with a little praise and worship to get us to “Feel the Spirit”. So I decided…(here I go)…lol….to share with you the songs that make help jumpstart our Sundays.  We love music and we love inspiration so this is always a great way to get the day going in my household!

So for today’s Feel The Spirit Sunday Song, is Merry Little Christmas by Vickie Winans. I heard this song on my way to church this morning and seeing that we are in the holiday season, it is perfect for today’s blogpost. Check it out and enjoy!

This week’s Feel the Spirit Song is “Go Get It” by Mary Mary. Since it’s my birthday I decided to share this song with you because this is my THEME SONG!!! This song seemed to come on at the right time all the time when I was going thru a hard time in my life where I felt I wanted to give up on all my dreams including THIS BLOG!!! The words would resound in my head “Go Get it Go Get it Go Get It Go Get your blessing. It’s your time!!!” and they were so right although they did not know they were speaking directly to my heart, they did. It was my time and I went out and got my blessing and I am still going after my blessings because it was and it IS MY TIME!!! This song will definitely make you Feel the Spirit!

This weeks Feel the Spirit Song is “Bread of Heaven” by Fred Hammond.  Bread of Heaven focuses on the life of Jesus and how he sacrificed himself for us by dying on Calvary making him the Bread Heaven.  Fred Hammond has a ton of hits and this man can SANG not sing but SANG!  This song gets me to my feet every time I hear it, it’s one of those songs that fill my spirit and makes me FEEL the spirit!

Today’s Feel the Spirit Song is “Yesterday” by Mary Mary.  This song is by far one of my favorite Mary Mary songs!  As a God Fearing woman who has been thru my own Hell I can relate to the lyrics in this song.  When you have bad things going on in your life you get to the point where you can’t cry anymore and you have to decide that you have to make a change in your life and not just cry over your situation.  That’s when you put your trust in him and let him bring you through the situation.  I hope you like this song too and I hope it makes you Feel the Spirit this Sunday!

Today’s Feel the Spirit song is “Father Can You Hear Me” By Tyler Perry.  This song was featured in Tyler Perry’s “Diary of a Mad Black Woman ” and of course the song took place during a church scene.  Why I love this song?  Why wouldn’t I love it?  Listen to the lyrics.  It’s basically a prayer asking God if he hears us and thanking him for the blessings he bestows upon us.  In the song the singers are asking for acceptance as they are and isn’t that what we do when we go to God.  We ask him to accept us as we are and love us for all of our flaws and he says  “yeeeessssss”.  Hopefully you will enjoy Father Can You Hear Me and hopefully you will Feel the Spirit with this song!

This week’s Feel The Spirit Song is Sinner’s Prayer from Dietrick Haddon.  2 years ago while searching for a new church home I visited Love Fellowship Baptist Church (in Romeoville IL), and this particular Sunday their sign language choir was performing this song.  The young lady who signed this song had a blessing over her, because she had the whole church up in tears.  This song is powerful for many reasons.  How many times have you said to yourself that you are blessed even despite your sins?  How often have you been thankful for the blessings you have received even though you haven’t been walking the walk as you should’ve?  We all “fall short of his glory” but yet we are still blessed by his love and forgiveness.  Listen to the words they will fill your spirt and make you Feel The Spirit!

This week’s Feel the Spirit Song is “I Understand” by Pastor Smokey Norful.  This man has a POWERFUL GIFT of not only singing but also of preaching.  I used to attend his church Victory Cathedral in Bolingbrook IL and he delivered powerful messages on a regular.  What I love about this song is that he is telling you take things day by day because God is preparing you for what is to come, however if you think he doesn’t understand your plight…God Really does understand everything you are going thru and feeling.  Even during times when you feel that you have not done enough or are not good enough, that’s not the case.  I hope this song makes you Feel the Spirit!!!

This weeks featured song is “Let Go and Let God” by DeWayne Woods.  This song is really powerful!!!  Many times we try to fix things and be in control, but at the same time we are struggling and are lost.  The words in this song are so empowering, very simply put is that the battle is not yours to fight…you have to Let Go and Let God do what he is going to do.  When you stop stressing and worrying there are doors that can open up that you never imagined!!!  I hope this song helps you Feel the Spirit and if you have a problem you are stressing over….Let Go and Let God!!!
